Optive PLUS™ has a unique and triple mode of action that provides deep and long-lasting comfort. Optive PLUS™ moisturizes and regenerates the ocular surface by restoring osmotic balance (moistening plus "osmoprotection").
Optive PLUS™ also protects the tear film from evaporation by improving the lipid layer. Like Optive™, Optive PLUS™ contains the preservative PURITE®. The special thing about the preservative PURITE® is that it breaks down into the natural tear components (sodium and chloride, oxygen and water) when exposed to light.
This means that Optive™ and Optive PLUS™ are preserved in the bottle but unpreserved on the eye. Optive PLUS™ is suitable for patients with moderate to severe forms of dry eye who need additional protection.
OPTIVE PLUS™ is a sterile solution in a multidose dropper bottle containing 0.5% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose, 1.0% glycerin, 0.25% castor oil, 0.5% polysorbate 80, 0.25% levocarnitine and 0.25% Contains erythritol and 0.01% of the preservative PURITE®, which is broken down in the eye into the natural components of tear fluid.
