- Zinc is an important trace element and essential for metabolism
The zinc + copper tablets from Allpharm Premium are a useful dietary supplement during pregnancy and for vegans and vegetarians.
Zinc is an essential trace element that is involved in many metabolic processes. The body's daily requirement for zinc is 10 mg, but the zinc requirement is significantly increased during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Since an optimal zinc supply is not always guaranteed due to an unbalanced diet or increased requirements, zinc tablets can help to supplement the daily requirement.
After iron, zinc is the second most common trace element, with a total of 2-3 g. Zinc is a component of more than 70 enzymes. This makes zinc extremely important for humans. An inadequate zinc supply therefore has very negative effects, with the immune system usually being affected first.
All foods of animal origin (meat, fish, milk) contain relatively high amounts of zinc. Plant-based foods contain less zinc, which is also poorly absorbed. A heavily vegetarian diet can therefore lead to an inadequate zinc supply.
Copper is also an essential trace element. It contributes to maintaining the normal functioning of the immune system and helps protect cells from oxidative stress. It also plays an important role in energy metabolism and supports the normal functioning of the nervous system.
