  • Vismed Gel Eye Drops with Hyaluronic Acid are an effective solution for dry eyes. The dry eye is known as "keratoconjunctivitis sicca" and is one of the most frequently diagnosed eye diseases. The cause of the complex disease is often an increased evaporation of the tear film as a result of a disruption of the final layer of the tear film. Typical symptoms are burning, itching and scratching of the eyes as well as increased tearing or an uncomfortable feeling of foreign bodies in the eye. Often the eyes are also red and feel tired. The chronic disease requires regular monitoring by the ophthalmologist. For the treatment of dry eyes, high quality medical wetting solutions with hyaluronic acid have proven themselves. The use of thicker gels is recommended for intensive moistening. The viscosity of an eye gel, which patients feared, does not exist with VISMED® GEL. The preparation convinces with its pleasantly liquid consistency, so that the gel feels silky soft on the eye - without visual impairment. The long-lasting tear substitute is also free of preservatives and therefore very well tolerated. The resealable ampoules can be used up to 12 hours after opening.

With hyaluronic acid Hyaluronic acid is an endogenous substance that is contained in the tear film and ensures that moisture can be stored and nutrients can be transported. With special physical and chemical properties, biotechnologically produced hyaluronic acid solutions resemble natural tear fluid and are therefore often used in ophthalmology to treat dry eye. Clinical studies prove the effectiveness of VISMED® GEL and a significant reduction in symptoms.

    HORMONAL CHANGES

The hormonal changes during the menopause and pregnancy can cause dry eyes and unpleasant symptoms.

    DISEASES

Diseases such as diabetes, neurodermatitis or rheumatism often result in dry eyes. The use of medication such as psychotropic drugs and beta blockers can also affect the production of the tear film.

    CLIMATE FACTORS

The quality and quantity of tear fluid is also influenced by external factors such as cold, wind, dust and smoke as well as a long stay in air-conditioned environments such as offices, cars and other means of transport

    BALANCED DIET

An unbalanced diet affects the tear film and thus, in turn, eye health. In addition, our water balance indirectly influences the amount of tears.

    Can you prevent dry eyes?

You yourself can contribute to the well-being of your eyes by, for example, always making sure you drink enough - ideally at least 2 liters of water or unsweetened tea. A colorful, balanced menu with lots of fruit and vegetables also provides important nutrients for your eyes. In addition, omega 3 fatty acids - mainly contained in sea fish - also play an important role

Ventilate living and office spaces regularly, but protect your eyes from drafts. Avoid cigarette smoke and wear sunglasses in the sun to protect you from excessive light. Regular cleaning and care of the eyelid margin is also helpful if the sebum glands on the eyelid margin tend to form incrustations. Special cleaning wipes and gels, but also creams such as B. iLast® Care proven.

Does the gel affect my vision?

No, the VISMED® GEL spreads quickly on the surface of the eye when you blink and leaves a transparent film of liquid that does not impair your eyesight - in short: it does not smear or stick.

Why does VISMED® GEL contain electrolytes?

The cornea of the eye is free of blood vessels, which would impair vision. The cornea must therefore be supplied with nutrients and oxygen via the tear fluid. In order to guarantee this, VISMED® GEL contains important electrolytes.

How do I have to store the VISMED® GEL ampoules?

Please always keep VISMED® GEL out of the reach of children and store the ampoules between 2 ° C and 25 ° C. After the expiry date, the medical device may no longer be used.

  • Unscrew the cap from the single-dose container and hold the ampoule opening over the eye to be treated. VISMED® GEL can be easily dripped out of the ampoule with light finger pressure. Unless otherwise recommended by the doctor, drip 1 to 2 drops of eye gel into the conjunctival sac as required. The solution spreads as you blink and forms a transparent, durable layer of liquid on the surface of the eye. Do not touch the dropper opening of the ampoule during use and do not bring it directly to the eye. Do not use damaged ampoules.
