Medihoney® Antibacterial Medical Honey is a preparation for topical use on chronic and acute wounds.
Medihoney wound dressings protect the wound by forming a barrier against pathogens, including antibiotic-resistant strains, thus reducing the risk of infection. The high osmotic potential of Medihoney initially promotes the formation of exudate, flushing bacteria, endotoxins, plaque and necrotic tissue from the wound and rapidly eliminating odor. The result is a clean wound, reducing inflammation, edema and exudation. By creating the optimal healing environment, granulation and epithelialization are promoted.
100% Medihoney® Antibacterial Honey, it is suitable to apply the following areas:
- Inhibition of bacteria on the wound bed (effective against more than 200 clinical isolates)
- Fast and effective autolytic debridement of coated and necrotic wounds
- Creation of an antibacterial environment
- Rapid odor suppression of foul smelling wounds
- Creation of a moist wound environment that is important for healing, which also reduces pain when changing dressings.
Indications
- Deep wounds
- Wounds with fistulous ducts
- Necrotic wounds
- Infected wounds
- Surgical wounds
- Sore smelling wounds
The high osmotic potential of Medihoney Antibacterial Medicinal Honey promotes the formation of exudate. This flushes bacteria, endotoxins and necrotic tissue from the wound into the wound dressing and removes them when changing the dressing, which is also made easier. Furthermore, an antibacterial environment is formed.

Instructions for use:
- Wound should be cleaned using standard methods every time the dressing is changed.

- The antibacterial medical honey Medihoney or the wound gel are applied directly into the wound.
- Make sure that the antibacterial medical honey Medihoney or wound gel is in full contact with the wound (apply at least 3 mm thick).
- The secondary wound dressing should be sufficiently absorbent (preferably use superabsorbent wound dressings/superabsorbents) to absorb the amount of excess wound exudate.
