Woman using skin care with hyaluronic acid

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is an naturally and important part of our body, because it ensures firm and wrinkle-free skin. Over time, however, this ingredient in the skin diminishes and the skin becomes wrinkled. The tension is slowly lost and the skin is supplied with less moisture. This aging process can be counteracted with the help of hyaluronan skin care products.

The term hyaluronic acid is related to the Greek word "hyalos" and means something like "glass". This refers to the transparent, gel-like structure of hyaluronic acid molecules when they come into contact with water. Most hyaluronic acid is in the skin. The substance can and is produced by the body independently and is an important part of the connective tissue.  In particularly high concentrations, hyaluron is found in the synovial fluid and in the skin, where it can store a great deal of water

The older you get - the less hyaluronic acid

From the age of 25, the skin slowly loses its elasticity, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for it to completely replenish the depots of hyaluronic acid. When hyaluronic acid diminishes over time, you notice it as the skin loses its elasticity, the skin feels drier, and you get wrinkles. You also notice a lack of hyaluron in the joints, because you start to feel pain there and it becomes more strenuous to move.

What is the effect?

The body's own enzymes combine the molecules of hyaluronic acid into a three-dimensional network. Hyaluron, for example, can bind and store large amounts of fluid in the extracellular matrix, the structure that is responsible for the elasticity and firmness of the skin. Thanks to the water-storing property, a cushion forms on which the uppermost skin layer rests smoothly and evenly. Wrinkles are softened and the skin gets a firmer, youthful appearance.

Two kinds of hyaluronan

There are two kinds of hyaluronan. First, the short-chain hyaluronic acid fills the moisture stores down to deeper layers of the skin. It is broken down faster than long-chain hyaluronic acid, but provides a balanced moisture balance. With continuous use, a moisture-promoting long-term effect is achieved by short-chain hyaluronic acid.

Second, long-chain hyaluronic acid cushions the skin immediately. The longer and larger molecules bind the moisture, especially in the upper skin layer, leaving the skin immediately firmer and smoother.

Usage of hyaluronic acid in skin care

Hyaluron is an effective freshness kick for the skin - at any age. Those who use care products with hyaluronic acid early reward themselves in the long term with a more youthful appearance. If you want to counteract the premature skin aging, the appropriate skin care plays a crucial role. Hyaluronan drug formula creams and serums are among the most effective anti-aging skin care products. Not every person wants to undergo painful surgeries or botox / laser treatments to get a wrinkle-free, beautiful skin and the results are usually unnaturally sud and are very pricy.

You do not have to put up with your wrinkled skin, but you can treat it very well with a hyaluronic acid serum and thus slow down the skin aging process. Anti-aging products are an effective, painless and cost-effective alternative to the aforementioned methods to help against skin aging. Thanks to the water-storing property, a cushion forms on which the uppermost skin layer rests smoothly and evenly. Wrinkles are softened and the skin gets a firmer, youthful appearance. Hyaluron sera are also known to have no side effects and do not cause allergic reactions. The correct combination of long and short chain molecules is responsible for the up-firming and toning effect of hyaluronic acid.
