La vraie camomille (Matricaria chamomilla) est une espèce de la famille des tournesols. Initialement distribué dans le sud et l'est de l'Europe, on le trouve aujourd'hui dans pratiquement toute l'Europe.


La véritable camomille a été nommée première plante médicinale de l'année par l'Association des pharmaciens allemands (VDD) en 1987.

Elle a également été élue Plante Médicinale de l'Année 2002.
