How does Herpotherm work?
Herpotherm applies local hyperthermia (about 50-51 °C) for a brief period to the affected area, which can inactivate herpes viruses and reduce symptom development.
When should I use Herpotherm for best results?
Use it as early as possible, ideally at the first signs of a cold sore (prodromal symptoms like tingling or burning), to help prevent blister formation.
Is Herpotherm chemical-free and safe for sensitive users?
Yes — it contains no medicinal or chemical agents and is suitable for pregnant women, allergy sufferers, and children (from 12 years old) for their own use.
How do I use the device correctly?
Remove the protective cap, place the ceramic contact surface onto the affected skin, activate the device, which heats up to around 51 °C, hold it for about 3 seconds, then replace the cap; follow hygiene guidelines.
Can I reuse Herpotherm on the same outbreak or area?
Yes — multiple treatments on the same skin site are allowed, but leave a break of at least 2 minutes between applications on the same spot.
Who should not use Herpotherm?
Not suitable for use on eyes/eyelids, mucous membranes, open wounds/blisters, burnt or scalded skin, severe neuropathy (reduced pain or temperature sensitivity), or malignant skin changes.
What kind of sensations or side effects are possible?
Some discomfort, brief warmth or tingling, and sometimes temporary redness of the skin in sensitive users; more serious reactions are rare.
Can Herpotherm shorten a cold sore outbreak?
